Teddy Roosevelt Memorabilia
1TR)
Here is a brass or bronze plaque commemorating the sailing of the Great White
Fleet on a round the world cruise. One one side is a bust of President Theodore
Roosevelt and the verbiage Theodore Roosevelt, President Of The United States.
There is also a nautical anchor encircled by a wreath. On the reverse the
following are depicted. Three naval warships sailing on the ocean. Two figures
looking out over the ships. The tall figure holds a book depicting a globe of
the world. The verbiage "Hampton Road, Dec 16, 1907. Departure Of United States
Atlantic Fleet On Cruise Around The World." The name "Morgan" is engraved at the
lower left edge of the piece. I believe that it designates the maker of the
plaque. The plaque measures approximately 3" wide X 2 & 1/2" high. This is a
rare and beautiful item in excellent condition.

2TR) Here is a bronze plaque from the Spanish American War. It is in the shape of a cross. On the left arm of the cross is the verbiage "Philippine Islands". One the right arm is "Porto Rico." At the top of the cross is "Cuba". At the bottom of the cross is "USA." In the center are two military men carrying rifles and standing over a woman. A sailing naval ship is also depicted. In the circle around the center is the verbiage "Spanish War Veterans 1898-1902". The piece measures approximately 5 & 1/4" X 5 & 1/4". There is a hanging tab on the back of the piece. This exceptionally rare item was owned by John Davis. Davis was an enlisted man at the time of the war. He later became a Lt. Commander and Captain of the USS Constellation. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was a friend of President Teddy Roosevelt. I have never seen another of these items.
